In Gratitude for Family Caregivers Everywhere
This month of November, and this holiday season, we honor you.

Working Caregivers-The Invisible Employees Newsletter
Brought to you by ieAdvocates (invisible employee advocates)
Thank you for being here!
November is National Family Caregivers Month. Each November, we pause to pay tribute to the millions of family caregivers (63 million) who give so much of themselves every day – with deep commitment, often without recognition or appreciation.
National Family Caregivers Month is an opportunity to shine a light on the dedication, compassion, and resilience that caregivers bring to our families and our communities. Whether you’re caring for a parent, a spouse, a partner, or a disabled child, your commitment strengthens and sustains lives in ways that too often go unnoticed.
This month, we celebrate you – the caregivers juggling work deadlines, care duties, and life, finding grace in the middle of exhaustion. Your care and your voice matter, and they are helping re-focus the societal perspective on caregiving from a private family matter to one of community involvement.
As you read this month’s stories and resources, we hope you’ll feel seen, supported, and reminded that you’re not alone in this journey. If you are an employer, a leader, part of HR or a fellow employee, and you know someone who is balancing work and caregiving, reach out to them. Ask them how they are doing. And let them know they are seen and they are not alone.
For those of you in the United States, have a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving Holiday!

National Alliance for Caregiving’s Caregiver Nation Summit 2025
![]() Selma Archer with CEO & President of NAC Jason Resendez | ![]() Over 500 attendees were in the room on Day One. |
Selma Archer attended the inspirational 3rd annual Caregiver Nation Summit live event with over 500 other attendees hosted by Jason Resendez and the National Alliance for Caregiving in Washington, D.C. ( Zack Demopoulos joined hundreds on the live stream participating in a very lively chat room). The first day event had many caregiver advocates and experts sharing care economy updates and caregiver stories with the attendees. The second day, Advocacy Day, was another successful effort where over 100 attendees went to Capital Hill and held congressional meetings with their respective state’s legislators to discuss the current caregiver crisis and the policies that impact our nation’s 63 million caregivers. We thank you Jason and the NAC team for all the tireless advocacy you lead for caregivers!
✨ Some of many highlights of the two day event:
✨“𝙒𝙚 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣…𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣… 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢!" ~ Jason Resendez, President & CEO, NAC, opening key note. | ![]() |
![]() | ✨“The financial impact (of caregiving) doesn’t happen to one person. It happens to the whole family” ~ Rita Choula, Interim VP AARP during the “State Of Caregiving In The U.S.” segment. |
✨“…I truly believe there’s a public health crisis facing our country involving the children adolescents in the family caregiver role…”
A very moving segment from Dr. Feylyn Lewis in “My Caregiver Journey: A Youth Caregiver”. A must watch. Go to time stamp 1:02:21 to hear Dr. Lewis’ letter to her younger self. Dr. Lewis will also be a future guest on the Working Caregivers-The Invisible Employees Podcast.

✨“I wrote the book I wish someone would’ve given to me when we received that diagnosis….Build a community around you. Community is everything.” ~ Emma Hemming Willis, author “Unexpected Journey” during the fireside chat segment. | ![]() Jason Resendez and Emma Hemming Willis |
![]() | ✨During Emma’s talk, the chat room was full of conversation sharing stories and resources. One resource that Emma spoke about and the chat room contributed about was “caregiver roadmaps” that counties of different states from all over the country have developed. Here is one example from Pennsylvania. |

✨The chatroom was full of caregivers that validated many of the speakers’ comments from Day One.
✨“Nearly 70% of those working age caregivers are employed while also providing care…
…on average caregivers provide about 27 hours of care per week with nearly 25% providing 40 or more hour a week or the equivalent of a full time job…
…there’s not a lot of other time in the week, that is part of the stress and strain we see….
…I think employers are doing phenomenal work supporting in caregivers…”

LinkedIn posts exemplifying employers making a difference for working caregivers during National Family Caregivers Month.
Ever year we like to find posts on LinkedIn during the month of November that exemplify what National Family Caregivers Month is all about. Here are a few of them we thought we would share with you:
Great example of a senior leader sharing their caregiver journey: It’s #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth and being Emmett’s mom is the most rewarding and important thing in my life. You see our bond. 🥰 ~Stacy Hurt, Chief Patient Officer, Parexel. See post here. | ![]() Pictures from Stacy Hurt’s post. |
ERG’s: 💖At Cushman & Wakefield, our Parents & Caregivers Together (PACT) ERG is helping shift that narrative. PACT creates space for all to connect, share experiences and access resources through year-round programming designed to support their unique journeys. Caregiving is leadership, and it deserves recognition. ~Nadine Augusta, Chief Impact Officer, Cushman & Wakefield. See post here.
Appreciating your employee who also is an unpaid family caregiver: 💖This #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth, we’re celebrating the incredible strength of working families and caregivers — those who give their all at work and at home. I’m inspired by colleagues like Eshan P. from our Noida office, a proud #UKGNest member balancing his career while caring for both his child and parent. ~ Kristal Hansen, Sr Manager Talent Acquisition, UKG. See post here. | ![]() Picture from video from post. |
💖An employee appreciating their employer. Balancing work and caregiving for my mother in the last year of her life taught me resilience—but it also revealed how challenging it can be when workplaces don’t fully recognize the realities caregivers face. There were days I felt torn between two worlds, trying to give 100% to both. … I’m grateful to work for a company that truly understands this and provides the support caregivers need. It makes a world of difference—and it’s something I believe every organization should prioritize. Tiffani Bell, Senior Director, Kaiser Permanente See post here.

I personally know the level of conviction and passion you have to have… ~Corwin N. Harper, President, Kaiser Permanente. See post here. |
💖 ERG’s and senior leades sharing their caregiver stories. To kick off National Caregivers Month at TruStage, Eric T. Hansing and I sat down recently with our Caregivers ERG to talk about our experiences and family stories. It’s not a topic I talk about often, but it’s an experience I live every day. Like dozens of others in the room and on the call that day, it was refreshing to be surrounded by people who get it. Each of us has different and unique circumstances, but none of us are alone. ~ Terrance Williams, CEO & President, Trustage. See post here. | ![]() Picture from post. |

Episode 30: The Future of Caregiving at Work with Wellthy’s Lindsay Jurist-Rosner

Lindsay Jurist-Rosner is the Co-Founder and CEO of Wellthy , the market-leading care concierge company transforming how families navigate care for themselves and their loved ones. Two million people currently have access to Wellthy through major employers and health plans—including Best Buy, Cisco, Hilton, and Meta—and the company now employs more than 300 specialists supporting family caregivers every day.
Driven by her own 28-year caregiving journey for her mother, Lindsay set out to build the very resource she wished existed. Today, Wellthy is widely recognized for its innovation: in 2023, it earned a spot on Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies” and “Top 10 Most Innovative Workplace Companies” lists, and Lindsay was named to Inc. Magazine’s “Female Founders 200.”
Before launching Wellthy, Lindsay worked in advertising technology and media, leading marketing, product, and sales teams. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics–Operations Research from Columbia University. She also serves on the Board of Hilarity for Charity (HFC), founded by Seth and Lauren Rogen. Lindsay lives in New York City with her husband and four children.
“…I wish I had known I was a caregiver, to be honest. You don't even think that you are. You don't know that you are until you're out of it… Because when you're in it, you're just in it. So, in that instance, I wish I knew I was a caregiver, and I wish I had sought out more information and resources. I did not at all. And that's shocking to me when I think about that. I never once thought about asking for respite care… even just something like a caregiver group or just knowing that I was [a caregiver] to see what I was going through was really difficult. I just thought I had to push through and just do it, you know? And you do… but you can have so much more support in that journey, and to ask for help and have an easy way to bring in that help. I wish she [ I ] knew that she [I] could ask for that a lot more. ”

While raising her own young family, Nicole was thrust into the complex world of hospital discharges, care decisions, and medical advocacy — all with little guidance or support. Her experience as part of the “sandwich generation” inspired her to create a resource that didn’t exist: one that empowers caregivers with clarity, tools, and community during some of life’s most overwhelming transitions. A passionate advocate and social entrepreneur, Nicole is on a mission to change how we support family caregivers — and to remind them they’re not alone. You can learn more about and connect wtih HeroGeneration here: Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn

“…I always say I felt like I was in a laundry machine where I was being tumbled around, no control, couldn't get my bearings, no control of my life. I was always asking about mom, what was going to happen next? And then when she did pass, and I was done with my caregiving journey, I felt like I was let out, and I could finally start to see clearly what had just happened and what that caregiving experience was all about. It was a lot. It was very, very overwhelming. As I mentioned, no resources. That is what led me to start HeroGeneration.”
